2D ANIMATOR / ARTIST

AR (Arina Rai) is a freelance artist who currently lives in Hong Kong, grew up watching animations and drawing. Now studying a top-up degree at Coventry University, Bachelor of Media to be graduated in the summer of 2020.

At a young age, she had difficulty talking to people and confinement found that drawing was a way to express herself. Sooner she realized her passion for arts especially drawing after going through phases of trying different types of art during high school. While AR was in high school, she got an opportunity to create a Chinese picture book that was published in the Univerity of Hong Kong in limited copies by the Centre for Advancement of Chinese Language Education and Research (CACLER). Attended Hong Kong Design Insititute where she received HD in Creative Media under animation.

AR specializes in creating fantasy works in animation and illustrations. Inspired by Vincent Van Gogh during her at an early age, she started her art journey. Art motivates her to move forward and look back at the past with fondness. Inspiration flow from Vincent Van Gogh, Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol, and Julian Glander, her style slowly took shape. Her aspiration is “ To create lightness with her work, to express feelings and each work has sentimental value. “ She would like to create an illustration book filled with her characters and stories and possibly make a short film about it.

She loves the elements of creating a different world, to visually tell her story and grew to love colors as she progressed as an artist, her work is colorful and personal to her. Hoping to bring a different light to stories that are untold and to create dimensions of reality.
